AeroSurvey, Inc. is a service-based
business that markets information concerning air quality,
especially the type of information that can be obtained through
the use of FT-IR technology. AeroSurvey was co-founded in
1993 by Dr. Charles Chaffin and Dr. Tim Marshall and it is their
experience and expertise in FT-IR air monitoring and applied
infrared spectroscopy upon which all of AeroSurvey's unique
services are based.
Charles and Tim teamed first in
graduate school, where they both earned doctoral degrees in
Analytical Chemistry under Professor William Fateley at Kansas
State University. Their graduate research involved the
development and extensive field testing of a mobile FT-IR air
monitoring laboratory as well as the development and testing of
FT-IR data collection and reduction methods amenable to field
operations. The research was funded by the Environmental
Protection Agency and the United States Army.
AeroSurvey was
originally founded to provide open-path FT-IR air monitoring
services to industrial and government clients. AeroSurvey
has expanded its services to include extractive FT-IR air
monitoring, laboratory FT-IR data collection services, and FT-IR
instrument development. Additionally, the recent
availability of commercial open-path FT-IR air monitoring systems
has allowed AeroSurvey to develop and offer a training course for
new open-path FT-IR users.
