AeroSurvey Sensor Evaluation Testbed (ASSET)
The AeroSurvey Sensor Evaluation Testbed is a permanent facility in rural Kansas dedicated to sensor validation and verification, systems test and evaluation, and remote sensing experimentation.
With 31 acres of land and on-site support from AeroSurvey's laboratory and fabrication facilities, ASSET provides commercial and government customers with the space, technical capabilities, and scientific expertise required to conduct remote sensing RDT&E activities.
Remote sensing targets developed and deployed at ASSET in the past include display targets with specific spectral signatures, illumination sources, controlled plume releases, and scenario and activity simulations. ASSET’s resident engineers and scientists make design, construction, deployment and maintenance of targets efficient and cost effective.
ASSET Ground Truth Data
Meteorological and atmospheric conditions are monitored 24/7/365 by a suite of sensors centrally located on the testbed. Measurements include wind speed and direction, air temperature, barometric pressure, relative humidity, dewpoint, ground temperature, shortwave and longwave radiant flux, albedo, and GPS coordinates of the station. Data from this station is archived at 1 Hz and is available upon request for any date/time range.
Full-spectrum characterization of downwelling and target signatures by experienced spectral scientists is also available upon request. Meteorological and other ground truth data from ASSET can be requested via the Contact form.
